I admit I had no idea who these characters were before our Neon Tiki Tribe party, but now we are all familiar with them. The Neon Tiki Tribe books are about a group of super-hero Tiki Tribe members who each have special characteristics. The tribe members battle the evil Ku Tiki Tribe in a fight to save the Earth from the powers of evil. Mowa,Zeke,Tia and Dar team up Greg, with the guy who first discovered them, and his dog Sniff-sniff to combat the Ku Tribe to prevent them from taking over the world.
The books are written in a dyslexia friendly font,so dyslexic children can have less difficulty reading correctly. This also helps my son who has a weak eye.He is able to read the print wearing his corrective patch. You can find them on Facebook to follow and learn more.
The kids all chose a pair of "superpower sunglasses" to wear during the party and then take home. They thought that was awesome because they would pretend to be heroes too.We talked about ways they could be super in everyday life, and how they could use those powers to help others. The guests all received a book to take home and read with their parents too.
I played the video clips on YouTube (supervised of course) and they got to see the characters in action. They all had a favorite and tried to convince the others why their favorite was better,so to settle that debate, we voted and the overall favorite was Dar.
I liked that the kids had a great time learning about coming together and saving the planet from evil. The characters encourage kids to stay positive, work together and try their best, which are always valuable lessons.Making the characters super-heroes is a great way to make them interesting for children too.I am excited to see new volumes in the future and enjoyed sharing these with the other moms and kids.
**I was sent all the character items to help host the party by my fabulous sponsors as a member of Mom Select. All experiences and opinions are my own.
