Meet the Google Nexus 4

After my short trials with the Windows 8X and the Samsung Galaxy SIII devices, I was no longer so excited to have a new phone. Yes, I had been waiting on my Google Nexus 4 for weeks and weeks, but after the hassle of switching phones, saving and transferring data and returning them, I was done with all the drama. I tried to remain optimistic about it though, and planned to try the panoramic picture option as soon as I could.

When my phone arrived, the first thing I noticed was the glittery look of the glass. It was so shimmery I had a hard time taking off the clear protective covers so I wouldn't scratch it. ( I might be just a little paranoid ). The Gorilla Glass body coupled with the sparkle really is quite lovely.  I finally did plug it in to charge and browsed the box contents to learn more about it while I waited.

It took me a few days to master the usage of this phone because it is set up differently than anything I have had before. The power button and volume control were simple, but the on screen controls were a little strange at first. The 4.7 inch screen glides with your touch and gives you complete control over everything with just a simple touch, press or flick of the finger.

This Jelly Bean running Android phone is simply amazing. I love the smoothness of the screen and the response speed too. I am able to see everything I need, clearly and instantly with great color and detail. Taking photos is a blast with the scrolling options and touch to zoom feature. I love that it aligns itself for the panoramic shots and allows a full view of anything in one photo.

This phone was intended to be pure Android power, and it delivers nicely. The Snapdragon S4 Pro system allows you to jump from app to app, run multiple screens at once, play games, transfer files and more, all with no lag.

To say I am thrilled with my new phone would be an understatement...I am overjoyed, relieved, excited, delighted...the list goes on.

Lock Out Prying Eyes with the RecordVault App

The typical human has way too much personal material stored on their phones. From photos we don't want to share with the world, to accounts, emails and contact data, our phones are a smorgasbord of personal information. Information that is just waiting to be stolen, copied or released to the masses of unknown predators lurking everywhere.

Think of how many people you contact in any given week, how many calls you make, texts you send or files you share. Would you really want all of that to be accessible at just the touch of a button, to anyone who happens to stumble across your phone? With the number of apps and add-ons available for mobile devices, it has become common to store vital information without a thought to the consequences. While keeping memberships, card numbers, addresses and more in your phone can save you time and hassle, it can also be devastating if used inappropriately.

Protecting your privacy has become more and more important as the number of identity theft victims increases, but that is not nearly the only reason to do so. Addresses provide criminals with opportunity for robbery or home invasion. Photos can be altered or shared with the world. Schedules tell everyone where you are and what you are doing. The possibilities for disaster are limitless and it is up to you to prevent that from happening.

Using the RecordVault app by PerSys Tek, you can safely and effectively protect the privacy of yourself and everyone close to you. Using state of the art technology and military grade encryption, this amazing app allows you the peace of mind to store what you want without worrying about the consequences.

The RecordVault app is available on the Google Play store for just $9.99. This one time low price will allow you a lifetime of security and peace of mind on all your current and future devices. Not only can it be used to protect your own information, but can be a vital asset for those in many fields too. You can safely store customer info, employee data, medical records and more with ease and security.

Using this app, you can send information from your device to the vault, or drag and drop it there manually. Your log in data is not stored anywhere, it is computed dynamically, so there is no way for anyone to gain access to it. You don't have to lock your entire phone or store all of your information, you can simply pick and choose which things you want to keep in the vault and which you don't. You have complete control over what you can and cannot see, but in the case of an emergency,  medical professionals can still access your important medical information quickly and easily.

You can follow RecordVault on Facebook to stay up to date on all the latest new and information.

50 Shades Darker-Continuing the Story

SPOILER ALERT>>>DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN"T FINISHED THE FIRST BOOK!!!!!

When Ana left Christian at the end of 50 Shades of Grey, I was heartbroken. I know it is a crazy relationship, but he is just so damn sexy. I find myself drifting off, thinking about the things he does and says. It's not so much that you want HIM, but that you want your own version that can entice the way he does. Reading some of the scenes has left me wanting more, and not just more of the book. Exploring a secret lifestyle is highly erotic and can leave you, hmm... flushed to say the least.

I almost had a heart attack when the first book ended, but I knew they would end up together once I discovered there was a second one. The pull between the two main characters is something you cannot ignore. Watching the domineering master cast aside his fears to open himself for the woman he loves is beautiful.

I was amazed at the speed in which Christian dropped all of his rules and expectations just to have another chance with Ana. The love that he feels for her is one we all hope for. His ability to give her the world is nice, but I think he would be just as attractive without it. The lost, sad, and scared little boy that he is inside pulls you to him. You want to soothe his worries and calm his fears, no matter what he wants to do back to you.

Seeing more of the inside of their lives was a nice touch in this book. Bringing back the ex subs, and adding a dash of trouble with the evil Elena, brought out the feral side of Ana. The drama in this story keeps you turning the pages, while your mind works to figure out the underlying issues and problems at hand.

Some would say this is like any other love story. They end up together, with tons of money and can do whatever they want. I agree with that too a point, but think that the painting of the scenes and the emotion portrayed bypass any other romance novel I have ever read. This book is not just about the good times, it doesn't sugar coat what is real, but allows you to experience the fear, desire, hatred and love right along with them.

Only 3 Weeks Until Oz The Great And Powerful

Disney is at it once again with the new Oz The Great And Powerful. I am a huge Wizard Of Oz fan, so I am wondering how this will compare. I guess I really don't have too long to wait, considering it will be released March 8th. Are you excited?

OFFICIAL BOILERPLATE:

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

“Oz The Great and Powerful” is produced by Joe Roth, with screen story by Mitchell Kapner and screenplay by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. Grant Curtis, Palak Patel, Josh Donen and Philip Steuer are serving as executive producers. “Oz The Great and Powerful” opens in U.S. theaters on March 8, 2013.

The Herbal Essences and Expo Trylogy

I was recently sent full sized bottles of the Herbal Essences Shine Collection Shampoo and Conditioner to try as a member of Expo. This was my first Tryology experience with them and I was thrilled that the bottles were large instead of trial sizes. It is so hard to get a real feel for anything with only one or two uses.

I had used Herbal Essences products before, just not these particular ones, so I had an idea what to expect. I was not surprised by the strong aroma that pours from the bottle soon as you open it. One of my favorite things about these is the smell...so rich and fruity. I am not talking about a slight sent that fades away quickly. Herbal Essences has a nice, fresh and simply wonderful smell that goes on and on.

I also love how thick these are. I hate to wash or condition my hair and have half of the product run out of my fingers before it even gets to my head. I didn't have that issue at all with these. The products are creamy,  with a nice consistency that allows great coverage without leaving behind a greasy residue. I have really long hair, so I always use more than suggested. Normally I have to have several times the recommended amount to get all-over coverage, but with these, only a little more than average worked fine for me.

I haven't been using these long enough to judge lasting results, but I did notice a change in shine right away. My hair smells better, has more bounce and shine and makes me feel like it looks more healthy.

*I was not compensated in any way for this post. The products were provided to me in order to make a video review for the Expo site, no post was expected or required.

New Chicken Helper Flavors

I received another package last week with new flavors of Hamburger Helper products for me to try. I had just gotten two boxes a few weeks ago, so I was surprised to see another shipment so quickly.  Being a member of the Hamburger Helper community is always fun and the surprise boxes make it even better.

This time I was sent new chicken varieties. The Fettuccine Alfredo will probably never be eaten here. I hate Alfredo sauce and cannot even stand to smell it. The Chicken Fried Rice, on the other hand, is one that I was anxious to try. I made it with diced chicken breast and we loved it. My only suggestion is to watch the temperature and level of water because the rice really needs time to cook.  I even allowed an extra minute or two and the rice was still slightly under cooked.

I love the 40% more boxes and the improved flavors help too!

*I was not compensated in any way for this post. I did receive the products to try, only as a community member, with no expectation of a post of any kind.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Christmas Special

I admit it, I watch Honey Boo Boo. I can't help myself. I had never seen it before and noticed my cousin mentioned it on Facebook. She said she couldn't imagine kids like that, or something of the sort, and knowing that she is a teacher and handles kids daily, I had to see what all the fuss was about.

The first time I watched the show, I think my mouth was open the whole time. I couldn't believe the things they said and did on television. I would be so embarrassed if my family acted that way and with no shame at all. I say this, yet I couldn't stop watching it...I still can't. My husband think I am crazy every time I put it on, and usually goes in the other room to play PlayStation.

I guess it might seem more normal if you are from that area, but to me it is just beyond imagination. I saw the episode where they attended the Redneck Games. Imagine a day filled with jumping in the mud and bobbing for raw pigs feet..gross! Trying on used costumes, running from mayonnaise, sleeping with a pig, a three thumbed baby...you just never know what the hell you are going to see on this show.

In twenty minutes of the Christmas Special, I have seen them decorate with a broken baby Jesus, shop for gifts at the flea market and fart proudly on television. I know all this from the subtitles because you cannot always understand what the hell they are saying. Oh and don't forget Sugar Bear hanging mistletoe everywhere in the hopes of getting some Christmas loving...wow!

My Samsung Galaxy SIII Experience

After my not-so-perfect experience with the Windows 8X phone, I mentioned that I had gotten a Samsung Galaxy SIII. My husband had one in white, so I opted for the Pebble Blue color. When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was how reflective the color was. I don't know that I would call it blue, as it seemed more silver or grey to me, but it really is very pretty. Even my husband said he would rather have that than the white.

I loved playing with all the features on this phone, there are so many to choose from. My favorite, of course, is the tap to share option. My husband never loads his photos on the computer and he always has a few I want/need for a project, photo book or gift. Using tap-to-share, I could have him send me the ones I needed , easily in a few seconds.

I also spent a little time browsing the Play Store to find the tile app I wanted. I just loved the tiles on the Windows phone and had to have them on this one too. After finding the correct tile app, I imported my contacts and was good to go...or so I thought. Within just a few days of getting this phone, I started to notice that every time I had a conversation on it, the person on the other end would have trouble hearing me at random times. I could be in the same place, with the same coverage, and still have these interruptions during every call. How annoying! I was having to repeat something or waiting for an answer or reply to something they didn't even hear...every few minutes. After a few days of this I had an incident where my phone was sitting in another room and I was the only person home. My phone rang and I went to answer it to discover it was my mom "calling me back". She said her phone rang, it showed a call from me, but when she answered, I wasn't there, so she hung up and called me back. I hadn't called her at all that day.

I contacted customer service and tech support to no avail and finally just decided to return the phone while I was still under buyers remorse. I could have gotten another of the same phone, but discovered my long-awaited Google Nexus 4 was finally in stock. After over 6 weeks of waiting, it was available and probably not for long, so now I will see if it was worth the wait.

50 Shades of Grey Leaves You Wanting More

I am not usually one to follow the trend when it comes to books. I have read a few suggested titles and grabbed an idea or two from places like Goodreads or Oprahs Book Club, but for the most part, I read whatever sounds good to me. I tend to stray from the norm, so when I saw all the hype surrounding the book, 50 Shades of Grey, I had no real interest in reading it.

As time went on, I saw more and more mentions of this book...and with some very interesting comments too. I was curious, but not enough to run out and buy it yet, so when a friend said she had it, I told her to bring it over the next time she visited so I could finally just read it.

I have to say, boy was I ever wrong. I was amazed by how much I loved this story. The forbidden aspect of what it covers and the pure eroticism it details are enough to make anyone a little excited. I enjoyed every last second of Christian Grey and would love to have one of him for myself.

The story begins so innocently, with a simple interview between a soon to be college graduate and a wealthy,  and breathtaking, businessman. I had no idea that the story would take off so fast, or that Mr. Grey would be so brazen in his assault on Ana. I say that with a smile, as the assault is something I would be happy to endure, yet it is shocking in comparison to the "norm". The fast progression from strangers, to so much more is almost, but not quite, unbelievable. There is just enough romance and sadness to keep it from being classified as pornographic, yet the images it paints are anything but offensive.

Watching Ana go from a timid and innocent girl, to a woman who thrills in the fantasies of her "inner goddess", is empowering. I think what makes this such a captivating read is that it brings out the desires that lay within you. The book makes you crave the electrifying experiences and situations that are simply above and beyond the limited sexual tendencies of most people.

I liked that there is just enough physical description of the characters to paint the images in your mind, yet with enough breathing room that it still allows a little mystery. The descriptions of the dominant vs submissive  roles leaves you breathless and craving more. You almost feel like a voyeur while watching Christian teach Ana how to love the dark side...almost but not quite.

Girl Scout Drama

This is my daughters first year being in Girl Scouts. I have to admit ,I was not so keen on her starting, but her cousin was a member and she wanted to join with her. I finally agreed and she started a few months ago. We began our experience being told we needed to pay for the uniform and patches to start. We filled out all the paperwork and sent in her dues.

Reagan was thrilled when she received her sash, hat, and troop number patches and she loves wearing them to meetings and gatherings. She attended her first couple of meetings with no issues but then I started to notice a lack of organization. We didn't find out about meetings until a few hours before the scheduled time. We never have any notice of what is going to happen until we get a permission slip for a trip or event. Several meetings have been cancelled or started late due to leader issues. I have noticed events and sales on the website but found it on my own, nobody even told us there was an online store. I just don't see how we are expected to get the full experience this way.

My biggest problem was getting the cookie forms days after the sale started...and then being expected to return them before the scheduled date. I think we ended up with about 10 days to do all of the sales, so it didn't go as well as planned.

On the other hand, Reagan does love being a Girl Scout. She loves her new friends she has made and attending the events they participate in. So far she has been in a parade, prepared Meals on Wheels packages during the holidays, attended a skating party, sold cookies and is doing a World Vision project today. She loves everything to do with it.

It might be a big headache for me, but I am glad I let her do this and will continue to let her...even if I have to start my own troop. Just kidding...maybe.
