Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn't had one.

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.

GearMaxx Screen Protectors Are Fantastic!!

I love having a top of the line phone because it allows me to do everything I do online, with only the touch of a finger. The downside to this is trying to keep your phone from getting damaged. You can keep it in your pocket, a case or whatever other place you deem safe, but that doesn't mean your screen will stay perfect.

I was fortunate enough to be sent screen protectors for my phone and my husbands from the fabulous people at GearMaxx. These not only protect your screen, but minimize the strain on your eyes by blocking 99% of UV rays emitted by your phone.

I first applied the cover to my husbands Galaxy S5 using the easy to follow instructions. The protectors are cut to specifically for each phone giving you a perfect fit every time and making it that much more simple to apply. Each kit comes with 2 screen covers so you have one to share or an extra one for yourself. The kit also includes a microfiber cloth, dust eraser and squeegee tool, meaning you have everything you need right in the package.

The application process is simple. You wipe your screen to remove any dust and dirt and peel the first backing piece (labeled #1) from your screen protector about an inch or so. Next you flip the protector over and align with your screen starting at the top. Carefully press the top corners onto the screen in the correct place and peel the rest of the backing with one hand, while you press the rest of the protector down with the other. Use the included squeegee to gently push out any air bubbles. Once you have everything aligned correctly and all bubbles removed, peel off the #2 backing piece and you are done.

I had no issues applying these to the Galaxy S5 or to my HTC One M8. Both protectors were perfectly fitted to our phones and once applied they are amazingly clear. I noticed no change in the colors of the screens or in how they handled. The touch features still work perfectly and my screen looks great.

My favorite part of the GearMaxx screen protectors is how nice they are. I have tried protectors in the past that were really flimsy and peeled back after a short period of use. These are a thicker variety and have not moved at all since being applied. I can rest comfortably knowing my screen is safe and if I ever want to change it or take it off for any reason, these protectors can be cleaned and used again!

GearMaxx offers protectors to suit your  tablet, notebook, gaming console and digital camera too. This means you can have the same quality protection on all of your devices! These particular covers can be purchased on ebay for only $11.99. The prices vary depending on the device, some being less and some being more, but I think they are well worth it!

School Is Back In Session

Even though summer is hectic and the kids have a way of making the days seem to last forever, I hate when it is time for school again. I dread the early mornings and all the extra details that come with three kids in school, and all of them being in advanced classes. They have assignments, meetings, trips, fundraisers and chaos galore. I wish they could just stay home all the time, but then I would probably lose my sanity in under a year and have to spend some quality time in a padded room.

The worst part of school is keeping track of who needs what, has to be where, can't forget this and must have that. They always have some special project to do or assignment they have to work on at home, so that means I have to do them all too. I am mom and I have to fit it in between writing, posting, planning, cooking, cleaning and about a million other things during the day.

I have learned over the years to try and be as prepared as possible. I try to always have paper, pencils, crayons and markers, glue and other random school related items on hand. At least this saves me from having to make extra trips to the store for a roll of tape or construction paper.

What about you? Are you excited when the kids start school or do you dread the daily routine that comes with it?

Surpahs Digital Body Scale Updated

If there is one item I have never really kept in my home before now, it would have to be a bath scale. Being a single mom with 3 kids, I was always working and taking care of them which didn't leave much time to worry about weight.

The past several years I have had multiple surgeries on my foot, leaving me stuck in bed and not walking for months each time. With nothing to do except sit, I noticed a change in my weight. It is hard to exercise or move around when you have to keep your leg elevated most of the time, so it didn't take long to put on a few pounds.
Since being able to walk again, I have started to focus more on taking those pounds back off and getting into better overall shape. This was when I realized that having a scale at home would be a good addition to my arsenal. I could keep track of my weight loss, and would always have it there to remind me to watch what I was eating. When I was given the opportunity, I knew reviewing the Surpahs Digital Body Scale was a perfect fit for me.

This digital scale is lightweight and compact, allowing it to be moved easily or stored without taking up a lot of room. The large LCD display makes it easy to read from a standing position, instead of having to lean over to see your weight clearly. The display shows the whole pounds and the decimal so you can track your weight to two tenths of a pound.

The scale is super easy to use too. It instantly turns on when you step on it and starts calculating. You have your results in seconds and you don't have to push any buttons or switches first. It is auto calibrated, so it comes ready to use and it turns itself off when you finish, so no wasting batteries.

*Update*
I have used this scale for a couple of months and it still performs perfectly. The scale remains intact and functioning as intended and I have only had to replace the battery once. I have had no issues of any kind and am still 100% pleased with this scale.

*I received the mentioned  product for review purposes. No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

Dial Coconut Water Body Wash and Giveaway

One of my favorite ways to end a long day is in a nice hot shower. I love to relax under the spray and let my tensions drain away, then get squeaky clean before heading to bed. I love to lather myself with a great smelling soap and am always keeping my eye out for a new scent I might like.

When I first saw the new Dial Coconut Water washes, I wondered how different they would be from others I have tried. The clear color intrigued me. I had never seen a clear scented wash before, and it made me want to try them for that reason alone. I was sent the Refreshing Mango scent to review. Loving fruit smells, I decided to try it right away.

I noticed an immediate difference in how this felt. The soap is very silky and almost slippery. It seems to work best when applied with a pouf, loofah or sponge, as suggested on the package, versus a washcloth or by hand. I like that it produces a nice lather and rinses easily too, leaving your skin feeling soft and clean. My favorite part of this was the scent. I absolutely loved the smell of this body wash. The aroma is nice and pleasantly fruity, but not overpowering.

I am happy to be able to share this with some of you too. I have 3 FREE product coupons to give away. Because I want to spread the joy as far as possible, I am going to have three winners who will each receive one full value coupon for their own bottle of Coconut Water Body Wash!

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (August, 18, 2014) – Marvel Studios began principal photography today in San Francisco, California, on its newest Super Hero franchise Marvel’s “Ant-Man.” The film brings one of Marvel comics’ original founding members of The Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The production also shoots on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production.

Set for release in the United States on July 17, 2015, the film is directed by Peyton Reed (“Bring it On,” “The Break-Up”) and stars Paul Rudd (“I Love You Man,” “Role Models”) as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, and Michael Douglas (“Behind The Candelabra,” “Wall Street”) as his mentor Dr. Hank Pym and Evangeline Lilly (“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” “Lost”) as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym.

The film also includes outstanding additional cast including Corey Stoll (“House of Cards,” “The Bourne Legacy”), Bobby Cannavale (“Danny Collins,” “Annie,” “HBO’s “The Long Play”), Michael Peña (“End of Watch,” “American Hustle”), Abby Ryder Fortson (“Togetherness”), Judy Greer (“13 Going on 30,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”), David Dastmalchian (“The Dark Knight,” “Prisoners”), Wood Harris (“Remember the Titans,” “The Wire”), John Slattery (“Mad Men,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 2”) and Gregg Turkington (“The Comedy,” “On Cinema”) and multi-hyphenate T.I. Based on the Marvel comic character first published in 1962, Marvel’s “Ant-Man” continues the lineage of epic big-screen adventures chronicled in Marvel’s “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 3,” “Thor: The Dark World,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Guardians of the Galaxy” and the upcoming Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” is produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

The Original Prize Candle Tastemaker Moms Campaign

I love candles. I love to have one lit all day long, so my house will smell delicious all the time. I prefer candles that have a long burn time, so I don't have to change them every day but I want the scent to stay strong the whole time it burns.

My newest candle addiction centers around candles with prizes in them. I love the idea of getting a treat after my candle burns down, and the thrill of having to wait to find out what it is. I will be the first to admit I am not the most patient person, but I try to refrain from digging into my candle so it will last as long as possible. Considering my love for candles and prizes, it is no wonder I was thrilled when I was chosen to review a Prize Candle as part of a Tastemaker Mom campaign.

I was provided with a Jasmine Neroli scented candle to try. This was not a scent I had smelled before, so that was a nice addition to an already great project. The 9 oz soy wax candle is designed to offer 40 wonderfully scented hours of burn time,  not to mention the prize inside. That was a lot of positive promise in one little candle, so I was excited to see how well they actually compared to my expectations.

When I first looked at the candle, I could tell it was a soy candle. The wax has a whole different look and feel to it and they don't have the uniform solidness you find in other types of candles. Personally, I like having a soy based candle because it doesn't take nearly as long for it to begin melting. There is nothing worse then lighting a new candle and having to wait an hour to smell anything.

In my excitement to enjoy this new scent, I forgot to read the directions on the box telling you to trim the wick to 1/4 inch each time you lit the candle again. I had to leave shortly after originally lighting my candle and didn't trim it before the second round, so I ended up with a little soot in my candle. It didn't alter the scent any so I just stored the information away for next time.

I burned my candle for over 20 hours before I was able to gain access to my prize. I refrained from digging it out so I wouldn't damage the candle and waste any yummy burn time. The prize was wrapped nicely and then tucked into a small plastic case to prevent any damage to the ring inside. I used tweezers to remove the casing from the wax and allowed it to dry before opening it to get the ring out.

The ring I received was beautiful. It came out fully intact, and with not even a touch of wax on it. I was not looking forward to having to remove wax from my jewelry, so I was thrilled when it came out clean. It was a beautiful blue colored stone surrounded by smaller white stones and set in silver, but I had no idea what it was worth. I followed the easy steps and visited the site to enter the code provided with my prize. It took only seconds for me to find out my ring was valued at $25. That is certainly not the largest prize value you can find hidden in a Prize Candle, but because it fit, and was pleasing to look at, I couldn't care less what it was worth!

I would love to try one of these candles in every scent available, and to see what other gorgeous prizes may be hidden in them. I have added them to the list I keep of items I would buy as gifts. This is a great way for me to remember them in the future, so I will be able to share the experience with others too.

Pure Raspberry Ketones Natural Fat Burners

I told you before about my experiences with different diet and weight loss products. Now, I want to tell you about the newest product I tried.

Pure Raspberry Ketones Natural Fat Burners are extracted from natural sources instead of being synthesized in a lab. This means no additives, binders, fillers or artificial ingredients. Made in the USA, these 500mg capsules are quality tested for assurance. They work as an appetite suppressant by burning body fat and converting it into energy which helps to suppress your appetite.

By using natural ingredients and working with your bodies own normal processes, this product avoids the jittery feeling caused by many appetite suppressants on the market. When combined with diet and exercise, these prove to be a productive weight loss supplement. Exercising makes the body burn energy, which in turn burns calories. By taking these pills in combination with exercise, you are converting stored body fat into burnable energy. This means you don't have to eat more to replace the lost energy, and you are suppressing appetite at the same time. It is a combination that works without any negative side effects.

I took these for about two weeks without any other supplements following the directions of one pill twice a day, 30 minutes before meals with a glass of water. I tried to watch my food intake and increase my activity to achieve the best possible results. I am not going to claim a huge decrease in weight or overly dramatic results. What I noticed was a slow but steady dropping of a pound or two at a time. When doing this over the two week period, I had a drop of around 6 pounds and an increase of energy that allowed me to accomplish more with minimal effort.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Skelita Calaveras Monster High Costume Review

My daughter is a huge Monster High fan. She has themed clothing, dolls, posters and everything in between. When I saw the opportunity to review the new Skelita Calaveras costume, I knew it was a perfect fit for her. Skelita is one of the newer Monster High characters and will probably be on a lot of wish lists this year. All I have to do is add shoes and a little makeup and she is ready to get some candy!

The brightly colored, wavy layers of the skirt make this an eye catching costume from the start. The colors are a bit different in the actual costume than they appear on the site. The blue shown above looks aqua on the site and the green is darker than it looks too. I don't think it makes any difference, and my daughter never even noticed. However, if you are buying accessories like bracelets or shoes to match, I would suggest going with a variety of colors or waiting until you have the costume in hand to make sure it is exactly what you had in mind.

The costume comes with the dress, belt, tights and gloves. The tights and gloves feature cool skeleton bones on them and the top has cute glittery stitched patterns with skulls. This fits perfectly with the darkness of the characters, without being too much for a little girl. It has a soft, velvety feel that I love too. This costume is sure to put the Scream Spirit in your Monster High fan!

Wholesale Costume Club offers a large variety of Girls Monster High costumes, so it shouldn't be hard to find one to suit the little girl in your life. They even suggest a nice selection of accessories, treat bags, makeup and safety lights at the bottom of each costume page. This makes it super easy to get the extras you want, without searching all over the site for them.

The sizing of this appears to run a bit small. I ordered a sz medium, which is normally a size 8-10. My daughter wears a size 8, which is usually a little big because she is so petite, but this fit her perfectly. She has room to move and can even layer under it if the weather is too cold. If I were looking for a size 10 though, I would personally order a larger version of this. You can grab this costume for only $21.98 for non members and $19.96 for members. You can also purchase the wig separately.

*I received the costume for review purposes. No other compensation was received, or expected, and all opinions are my own.
