My boys love reading. This is a trait that was passed from my grandmother, through my mother, myself and now, to them.My oldest son enjoys fantasy and science fiction the most,so when I was offered a chance to review The Magic Warble, I was excited.I read the book in about 4 days in whatever free time I had.
The story is about a 12 year old girl named Kristina.Kristina receives a special gift that transports her to a land far away from her own..Bernovem.In this land,Kristina is amazed to find talking animals, dwarfs, fairies and other interesting creatures, and soon learns she must journey across the land to return the gift to it's intended spot to restore Bernovem to its former glory. On her journey Kristina battles weather, deceit and attacks from the Queen and her creatures in her effort to return the ball to it's resting place.
My son has almost finished the book and he really seemed to enjoy it.He liked the setting and the descriptions of the land, and was thrilled that there was a happy ending. He was a big fan of one of the main characters,Prince Werrien as well. I don't want to tell you too much so I won't spoil the story, but if you love a nice fantasy book,I recommend giving this a try.
With 267 pages, this is listed for ages 9-13,but can be suitable for other ages in my opinion. My youngest son is 8 and had no problem browsing the book. With the kids being back in school, this is a great book for a book report or required reading.I know my son is going to write about it for his free reading journal this week.
