Stuck Together by Mary Connealy

I am not normally one to read slow paced books. I like the action/adventure/romance, or whatever it is to stay interesting. I like to read a book that I just don't want to put down, or else I tend to get bored quickly. I admit, at the beginning I was not sure if this book was going to hold my interest, but in the end it did.

Stuck Together begins with life in Broken Wheel, Texas in 1868. This little cowboy town is inhabited by only a small amount of people, meaning everyone knows everyone's business. Life in a small town also means a lack of single people, so the dating pool is next to nothing. Given this, and the fact that her mission is to close down the town saloon, Tina Cahill is one lonely lady, and looking to stay that way. Living in a town with her brother, his military friends and their families, the only available men are undesirable, except her brother's friend Vince, who is very desirable, but not what she has in mind. Or so she thinks. When Vince is visited by his father, and left with a surprise sister and his addled mother, Tina finds herself tossed in the middle of everything, right with the man she most wants to avoid.

This is really a simple story to follow and the characters make you want to find out what happens next. There is a bit of mystery and drama with romance thrown in the mix. It is an easy read and I finished it in just 2 days, even taking my time.

I like that this book jumps right into the story in the first pages. You find out right away who the main characters are, and what the history behind them is. The only issue I had was trying to picture the characters in my head. They aren't described in much detail, making it difficult to get a mental image of them. With so many characters tossed at you from the beginning, a mental picture would help me keep track of them while getting into the story.

* I was sent a copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
