Design and Dress Me Doll Nightgown Kit for Kids

Getting me to sew is like pulling teeth from a hippo... not a fun or easy task to say the least. I never liked to sew and have tried to avoid it as much as possible. Unfortunately, there are some times when I just have no choice but to grab the needle and give it a shot, like when my daughter wants something for herself or her dolls.

 Knowing that mom hates sewing, she started learning some of the basic stuff on her own. She enjoys projects and crafts, so sewing is right up her alley, but she can't quite do it all by herself. Thankfully there are now projects available that she can do mostly on her own, like the complete sewing kit we received for review from Design and Dress Me

This is an absolutely awesome sewing project for kids. The kit comes with everything you need to complete the entire project, including needle, thread and even pins for holding the pieces of material together as you sew.

There is a paper pattern included in the kit that you lay on the material pieces for cutting. This part is a little tricky and it may be easier to cut one side at a time instead of both pieces together. Once your pattern is cut, you simply pin it together, sew along the sides and the top, and it is finished. This was easy enough for my 8 year old to do alone, with the exception of threading the needle. She was able to pin, cut and sew the gown without any problems at all. The sizing of this is accurate and the finished nightgown fits the doll well. The material is stretchy, so even if you get the stitches a little further in than intended, you should still be able to fit it on a doll with ease. We followed the pattern exactly and had no issues getting the gown on and off.

This kit would make a great gift. It is cute and fun, plus it gives them a sense of accomplishment. My daughter was excited to make something for her "Daughter" and has already asked for more of these kits for her birthday. You can use this for a summer activity, travel, camping, while visiting and more, because it all comes right in the package and can be taken with you anywhere.
