Congrats to My Super Kid!

I haven't really stopped to update you about my darling children too much lately. With the warm weather, and my being stuck in this wheelchair, I haven't had time to do everything I have on my list.

I did want to take a minute and mention my youngest son , Aiden. You might remember that he is a year younger than his classmates because he skipped first grade a few years ago. Aiden has always maintained good grades and tried his hardest at his schoolwork. Now he has added several more accomplishments to his permanent record by winning the class and school spelling bees, being nominated for the Future leaders of America Conference and winning student of the month. He has had a successful school year and we are so very proud of him!

As I get older, I have been trying to combat the signs of aging. I have always looked younger than my actual age, and I want it to stay that way. My package arrived quickly and in perfect shape. The tube is a good quality and easy to squeeze, so the mask doesn't come pouring out too fast. I didn't want to apply it to thick, being my first time trying it, but I think I will do it a little thicker next time just to be sure there aren't any uncovered spots.

Hoping I Can Walk Again Soon

Well, I am now down to just one more week of waiting to see if I am allowed to try walking again. It has been 47 days since surgery and i am hoping that it has healed enough to start putting weight on it and taking steps. I haven't walked in almost 2 months, so it is going to be an uphill battle to get it back into shape after all that.

My Baby Boy is 11

My youngest son turned 11 last week and we celebrated his birthday this weekend. I guess I should have selected a different time because everyone had plans already or had to work. It didn't turn out to be the crowd I planned for, but he still had a great day.

Aiden is a big fan of Minecraft, so he wanted to go with that theme for his party. of course, since it is so new,, I couldn't find anywhere that carried actual Minecraft themed items. I ended up having to order a pinata from an Etsy store. It turned out cute, but didn't hold up to well from the beating and it fell and had to be retied several times.

I managed to get a friend who teaches cake decorating classes to do a cake with the pickaxe on it like he wanted. I thought it was pixelated but I guess I don't know everything because he said it was right. It doesn't matter since he liked it, but it is a good thing I am still confined to the wheelchair or I would have made it wrong. Since walking is out, I ordered this one and that turned out to be the best solution.

Aiden only asked for one main gift, a new XBox so he could play...yep, you guessed it, Minecraft. He wanted the system and the game and he ended up with both and more.

All in all he managed to get 7 games, the system, a few toys, a slip n slide and $50. That was only from us and 2 grandparents, so he still has some people to see. .

It is so crazy to see my youngest son turning 11. My boys are getting old so quickly and my princess is not far behind. :(

MALEFICENT - "The Legacy" Featurette Now Available!!

Kids Academy- Montessori: Learn 123 Numbers

Are you familiar with Kids Academy? This creator of educational children's mobile apps offers a variety of fun ways to help your child learn. From basic numbers and letters to math and more, these apps can be extremely beneficial.

I started by visiting the app store and browsing the available choices to see which we wanted to try first. I selected Learn 123 Numbers because it looked like something my nephew could use. This is a cute and simple way to teach kids to write their numbers correctly, but it doesn't stop there. This math game teaches number identification, reading and associating number symbols and more.

I started by downloading this from the app store. Once the app is activated you can set up user profiles for multiple children and even track your child's progress on the progress chart. The basic tracing game begins by showing a number 1 and telling the child what number it is. It then asks the child to trace the number, which is highlighted and has a dotted line for easy following. Each time they trace a number correctly, they collect fireflies which are added to the collection jar on the side of the screen. If they don't trace it fully, the app tells them to try again until they get it correct.

I thought this was a cute way to teach numbers and allows the user to feel accomplished when they do it correctly. My issue with this was only that several times when the numbers were traced, the game didn't respond to their touch and it had to be done again. I am not sure if this is a glitch in the game or just the settings on my phone. Either way, it doesn't stop the process or alter the play, so it wasn't a huge deal.

In all this app was enjoyable for very small kids, so I plan to pass this information along to others who have small children and could benefit from this and their other apps.

The Million Dollar Arm Pitching Contest is being held to celebrate the opening of Disney’s “Million Dollar Arm,” an incredible true story about two young men who went from never throwing a baseball to getting a Major League tryout.

Amateur baseball pitchers—male or female, who are legal United States residents at least 18 years of age or older—are invited to qualify to compete in the preliminary rounds of the Million Dollar Arm Pitching Contest at either Walt Disney World^® Resort in Florida, Disneyland^® Resort in California or at the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day at the Tribeca Family Festival in New York City. The three contestants from each location who throw the fastest pitches will advance to the finals and have a chance to compete for a $1 million prize at the world premiere of Disney’s “Million Dollar Arm” in Hollywood, California. I Love This Super Mario Bros Pinata Bundle!

With my sons birthday coming soon, I have been on the hunt for a fun pinata for his party. While browsing blogger applications, I saw the chance to review this awesome Super Mario Brothers pinata. Developed by Nintendo, Super Mario has been around for ages and is a favorite in our house. Aiden loves Mario, so I thought I would give it a try. If it turned out well, I could grab another one before his party.

This pinata arrives almost flat but has strings around the outer edge. When you are ready to fill it, you simply pull each string until it locks in. When they are all pulled tight, you add the treats and get ready for smashing fun.

When the package came, the kids were excited to fill it up so they could bust it open. I had to calm them down just to get these photos for the post! I didn't know that the balloon actually had two different pictures to choose from. You could choose to put either Mario or Luigi facing outward when you used it. This pinata kit even came with the candy to fill it and a mask to make bashing time more fun.

We decided to use the Mario side and attached it to the pinata base with tape. We filled it with the entire bag of candy provided, plus some extra items I had left from recent parties. The pinata held up perfectly under the weight and didn't collapse or stress anywhere.

The balloon was quick to come off when they started swinging, but that could be my fault for how I attached it. This was my first time using a balloon pinata and I wasn't exactly sure how to use it. I think it worked out great and would buy this bundle again anytime!
